opcode, the Claude Code GUI first called Claudia, was a favorite. Its latest release is v0.2.0, from August 31, 2025, with builds for macOS and Linux only (checked on October 28, 2026). Alchemist Coder covers the same ground for Claude Code and Codex, and shipped 14 releases in October 2026 alone.

What the free edition does not do
The free Community edition runs Claude Code and Codex on local models only, through Ollama or LM Studio. Running agents on your Claude or ChatGPT subscription, or on API keys, belongs to Pro, which is not on sale yet. Searching and reading your history works whichever plan you use.
The builds are not signed by Apple or Microsoft yet, so macOS and Windows warn you the first time. The download section explains the two clicks it takes.

Is opcode still maintained?
Its repository is public and not archived, but its latest release is v0.2.0 from August 31, 2025, and that release has no Windows build (checked on October 28, 2026).
Does Alchemist Coder run on my Claude subscription like opcode?
Not in the free edition, which runs agents on local models. Your Claude Code history is searchable whichever plan you use, and running agents on your own Claude or ChatGPT account is part of Pro, which is not on sale yet.
